Whats the different between cheap and normal web hosting?
When looking to purchase web hosting you have the same sort of different price levels that you get with all goods and services… but are budget web hosting accounts any different to that of the more expensive variaty.
To compare packages they have to have the same features, i.e. same bandwidth and disk space allowance, same geographical location etc. If all these items are the same why do some cheap web hosting companies charge £10-£15 for the year, while others can charge around £5 a month! We will examine the posabilities.
The first obvious reason is the quality of the actual web hosting service i.e. better hardware, better betwork connectivity etc. More powerful hardware means more expensive hardware, which leads to higher prices, or the cheaper web hosting provider puts more accounts on their shared hosting enviroments making the cost per client less.
Support is a very important factor in web hosting, cheap or not so cheap, however providing quicker, more expert support can lead to more expeinsive costs for a web host, which will be reflected in their prices. The problem with great support meaning higher prices is that you cannot tell this before taking out the package, so be sure to check the reputation of the company e.g. kNet Hosting before purchasing.
Taking all these items into consideration does not mean that just because a company provides cheap web hosting their service is to be considered “budget”, I have found and used a number of web hosting companies who were very affordable but at the same time provided great perforamce and support! So dont write off the cheap web hosting companies just yet!
The best way to find out if the service of your cheap web hosting is going to be good enough is to do some research, look on forums, review sites etc, get the opinions of people who have actually used the service and find out if they would recommend the cheap web hosting to anyone else.
